2008 “Clocks”
Our 2008 program titled “Clocks” explored the music of Chris Martin and Coldplay
as interpreted by Olaf Sickman and The Vitamin String Quartet. To ten ladies of
Aria not only marked the first all-female Aria Winterguard but also set a new
standard for performance within our organization.
The show was set on top of a variety of neutral-toned clocks as the guard
provided the colorful expression of the music in shades of blue, purple and pink.
The excitement from the energy of the performers and the show generated a loyal
following throughout the season within CWEA. The members were quickly
recognized by other groups as “the clock people.”
We traveled to Atlanta, Georgia this season to compete in the WGI regional.
Although the preliminary performance was strong, the finals performance was
easily the most amazing performance of the season. The encouragement from
the regional finals results pushed the guard forward to WGI World Championships
in Dayton, Ohio. Another strong preliminary performance earned the guard a spot
in the Semifinals for the second time in Aria’s short history.
